Description

The Office of the Director (OD), Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (DMID), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), has a requirement for Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Units (VTEUs). The VTEUs will focus on Phase I and Phase II clinical trials of candidate vaccines and other prophylactic/therapeutic measures for infectious diseases other than AIDS. When a candidate vaccine shows promise, Phase III and IV trials will be conducted. A VTEU provides target populations, staff, facilities, and expertise to conduct clinical trials, and includes follow-up. A variety of vaccine types (live, attenuated, inactivated, subunit, conjugated) for prevention of viral and bacterial illnesses is expected. It is anticipated that multiple contracts will be awarded for a period of five years.
