- Description
- SEEKING. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is seeking qualified legal professionals to participate in it ADMINISTRATIVE JUDGE program to conduct administrative hearings on employment discrimination complaints filed aginst the EEOC by EEOC employees and applicants for employment under 1) Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended; 2)the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) of 1967, as amended; 3) the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended; 4) the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990; 5) the Civil Rights Act of 1991; and 6) the Equal Pay Act of 1963. Additionally, one or more Administrative Judges will occasionally serve as Neutral Evaluators. Neutral evaluation is a form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). KNOWLEDGE. Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience relating to these statues, as well as familiarity with federal EEO complaint processing regulations at 29 C.F.R. Part 1614 (November 9, 1999 revision) and federal personnel law. BASIC REQUIREMENTS. Applicants must possess a law degree from an accredited law school, and be a licensed attorney in good standing in a state, the District of Columbia or Puerto Rico. RESUME. Applicants' resumes must document specific training and experience in conducting hearings, or serving as an attorney in judicial or administrative proceedings. The statements must include the specific numbers and types of employment discrimination cases in which the person was either the adjudicator or was the attorney for one of the parties. Applicants must also supply job evaluations for the three (3) years preceding the date of application, indicating full competence in employment discrimination law and federal personnel law. Additionally, Applicants must furnish writing samples, and may include articles, publications, or other evidence of standing in legal profession. SELECTION PROCESS. Qualified Applicants will be selected for placement on an Expert Source List (ESL), and engaged under a Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) to compete for assignments to work on individual cases. Such contracts/purchase orders will be awarded in accordance with federal rules and regulations governing negotiated procurement. Experts selected must be able and prepared to independently conduct administrative hearings in accordance with EEOC regulations and policies, to write decisions (findings of fact and conclusions of law), and to oversee settlements of complaints. TRAINING. Training will be provided, where necessary, at Government expense to acquaint successful applicants with EEOC administrative practices, and to update and refresh their knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. LOCATION. The EEOC wishes to have successful candidates situated throughout the Continental United States, with greater representation in the southern tier of states ranging from Florida to California, and on the East Coast. FORMER EEOC EMPLOYEES. Former EEOC employees are not eligible for consideration at this time. REMUNERATION. Applicants hired under this program will be paid at the rate of $50.00 per hour plus travel, if any, plus the normal and ordinary expenses incurred in the processing of complaints at the hearing phase.
