Description

This is a special notice being used by Westinghouse Savannah River Company (WSRC) management and operating contractor for the U.S. Department of Energy's Savannah River Site, near Aiken, South Carolina. WSRC wishes to determine availability and capabilities of laboratories equipped for beryllium testing. As a result of the 10 CFR Part 850 -- Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program Ruling, it has been determined that an Integrated Contractor's Purchasing Team (ICPT) shall be formed and strategic agreements shall be awarded for Beryllium Testing (BeLPT) of past and current DOE, Contractor and Subcontractor employees. The ICPT is composed of a group of DOE Management and Operating (M&O) Contractors. The ICPT was chartered by Richard Hopf, DOE Procurement Executive, to form DOE-wide strategic purchasing agreements through leveraging the buying power of the DOE complex. This concept requires the suppliers to think of the DOE complex as a single entity, not as individual sites, much like a corporation would place national agreements to be used by any of their operations. The strategic agreement forms the basic agreement/building block from which DOE sites can develop their own purchase orders/subcontracts. This announcement solicits expressions of interest for laboratories capable of testing for beryllium. Laboratories should demonstrate their ability to conduct the test, quality requirements utilized, number of days of culture, and type of serum used. The laboratories should be experienced in providing this type of testing or should be able to show capability to conduct this test. Laboratories capable of producing the beryllium testing are requested to respond. Responding vendors should provide a detailed description of their testing procedure. Submittals shall include: 1) laboratory name; 2) testing description; 3) description of previous use at other DOE sites or commercial locations; and 4) name, address, telephone number, and e-mail of point-of-contact. Information provided under this request is not considered an offer. This information will be used only to assist the Government in planning the acquisition. All responses must be received by December 21, 2000.
