- Description
- The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the Department of Defense's medical school and health sciences university intends to solicit for an instructor and a consultant on a Cost Reimbursement contract. Contractor shall provide an instructional program in Anatomy/Cell Biology and Neuroscience I to nurse anesthetist and family nurse practitioner students. At the end of training, students are expected to be qualified to practice in the clinical setting as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) and Certified Family Nurse Practitioners. The Instructor shall work on a full basis from 1 January 2001 through September 30, 2001. This non-personal service contract will require the completion of specific tasks and contractor will be charged based on labor hour rate for a total of 1105 hours. Contractor performing the instruction shall possess an MD and practical experience in instructing medical or graduate level students in Anatomy/Cell Biology and Neuroscience I, Pathophysiology, and Health Assessment; shall have a history of assisting and delivering courses, conducting review sessions and integrating basic science information as it relates to the clinical setting; demonstrate the expertise and ability to communicate the required course material in an effective and efficient manner; demonstrate expertise an ability to contribute to department and faculty programs. Contractor shall have the following responsibilities: PATHOPHYSIOLOGY (Winter Semester) primary duty: Co-Course Director (80 hours): participate in preplanning meetings, set the agenda for the course, organize lecture schedule, review course objectives; attend classes (4 hrs X 16 classes) (64 hours); contract with speakers (60 hours); provide a minimum of 3 lectures with handouts (270 hours); assist in proctoring, writing, grading and reviewing examinations 3 examinations 150 questions (150 hours); provide student counseling and remediation services (15 hours); create folder for file of all class handouts, examinations, professor contact sheets, course syllabi, objectives, etc. (10 hours); participate in debrief at end of semester (10 hours); ANATOMY (Summer Semester) primary duty: Course lecturer, assistant to course director: participate in preplanning meetings (20 hours); provide a minimum of 10 one hour lectures with handouts (100 hours); assist with teaching anatomy lab (40 hours); assist in proctoring, writing, grading and reviewing examinations (50 hours); provide student counseling and remediation services (15 hours); assist course director as needed (40 hours); NEUROSCIENCE 1 (Summer Semester) primary duty: course lecturer, assistant to course director; participate in preplanning meetings (20 hours); provide a minimum of 4 lectures (40 hours); assist in proctoring, writing, grading and reviewing examinations (50 hours); provide student counseling and remediation services (15 hours); assist course director as needed (40 hours); HEALTH ASSESSMENT (Summer Semester): assist course director as needed (16 hours); coordinate course material with an accepted anatomy/cell biology course and neuroscience presented in a graduate school of nursing; prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, etc., in the form of dissected materials or use of models to demonstrate the need for anatomic information; grade exams and evaluate student's performance in the course in consultation with the course director; possesses an MD; present both traditional and cyber-enhanced lectures; contribute to an abstract and publication of a paper describing the collaboration between USUHS and the University of California at San Diego (UCSD); aid the course director in Anatomy & Cell Biology and Neuroscience I and II in planning and implementing these courses; attend GSN meetings as assigned and may be added to GSN or University committees but will participate as a consultant only an not as a voting member.
