Description

Notice of proposed contract action and presolicitation notice. Sealed bids for award of firm-fixed price construction contract to completely prepare site for the demolition and removal of existing roofs, and furnish labor and materials and perform work for roof replacements, and all other associated work, as required by drawings and specifications for the VA Medical Center, Louisville, Kentucky. Work includes, but not limited to the complete removal, down to the concrete or wood deck, of several built-up roofs throughout the Medical Center. Upon those decks, apply a new two-ply polyester reinforced SBS membrane system with a finished surface of granules. There are also requirements for flashing work, drain lines, etc. Cost range is between $250,000 and $500,000. Completion time is 280 calendar days from the notice to proceed. The proposed procurement herein is unrestricted in accordance with the Small Competitiveness Demonstration Program (P.L. 100-656). The NAICS and small business size is 235610 -- $7 million. Requests for bid packages must be in writing (no telephone requests will be accepted) and accompanied by a non-refundable $75 check, or money order. Make check or money order payable to: "VA Medical Center, #603" and forward to attention of this contracting officer at the address above. Please include complete company name, address, phone and fax number, point of contact for the company and IFB Number. Bid packages will be available on or about December 11, 2000 with a bid opening date on January 11, 2001 at 3:00PM, local time, eastern time zone. A pre-bid conference is scheduled on January 4, 2001 at 3:00 p.m., in T-2, Room 123b, (Bid Opening Room) at VA Medical Center, 800 Zorn Avenue, Louisville, Kentucky. Attendance at the pre-bid conference is strongly recommended, but is not mandatory. Award is subject to to the availability of funds.
