Description
The Public Safety Wireless Network (PSWN) Program will sponsor its 12th regional symposium in Boise, Idaho, February 20-22, 2001. (See www.pswn.gov or call 1-800-565-PSWN for additional information on the symposium.) POCs Derek M. Siegle, Program Manager, PSWN Program, Department of Justice; Julio R. Murphy, Program Manager, PSWN Program, Department of the Treasury. This symposium, like earlier ones, is intended to stimulate networking and firsthand information exchanges about developing interoperable public safety land mobile radio communications systems. Past symposiums have attracted local, state, and federal public safety officials who share information about systems planning, site acquisition, funding, spectrum, and other relevant information. One session is specifically designed to allow interested equipment vendors the opportunity to present their latest technologies applicable to public safety wireless communications. This session is planned for February 21, 2001, from 1:00 -- 4:00 p.m. with each vendor being given approximately 30 minutes for his or her presentation. A limited number of spaces are available for vendor presentations. Vendors will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Presentations should focus on interoperable vendor products, status of research and development activities, and compliance with published standards. Symposium attendees will be encouraged to participate from the audience by asking relevant questions. The PSWN Program believes that manufacturers of land mobile radio equipment typically used by public safety entities will find this session applicable to their respective businesses. Marketing pitches and sales rhetoric are discouraged. Vendor presentations must be provided in advance of the symposium. The PSWN logo cannot be used in conjunction with any vendor-created materials. The PSWN Program will not provide transportation, per diem, or other resources or support for vendors participating in this session. Equipment manufacturers desiring to send a representative to participate in this session should make their request via e-mail (preferred), by fax, or in writing to: Mrs. Carole Kirsch, Engineering Research Facility, Building 27958A, Quantico, Virginia 22135, (e-mail cakirsch@earthlink.net, Phone: 703-279-2006, Fax: 703-279-2032). Requests must specify company and participant by name and provide the following point-of-contact information: business mailing address, phone, fax, and e-mail address. Requests should be received no later than January 5, 2001. Participation in the presentations will be confirmed by January 15, 2001.
