Description
The Federal Highway Administration plans to negotiate a purchase order with InstroTek, Inc. to purchase the Corelok TM Device. This device tests asphalt core samples by vacuum application to allow for obtaining the bulk specific gravity of the core sample. This equipment will be used by several State Departments of Transportation for a combined study. This study will evaluate the equipment to determine its accuracy, its ability to repeat the test, and perform a comparison to the standard AASHTO/ASTM testing procedure that is currently being performed in asphalt labs. Through extensive market research, the Corelok TM device is the only known device that can test asphalt core samples using a vacuum application. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is December 12, 2000.
