Description
This is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. The Navy is requesting industry information on video annotation and distribution systems for use onboard a large aircraft. The purpose of this request is to ascertain current capability of existing video distribution systems, as well as to request information on possible future systems. The information obtained will be used to identify potential sources and systems. The system should be small, inexpensive, and highly reliable. The video distribution system must withstand all adverse environment characteristics associated with an airborne system, including, power, vibration, EMI noise and pressure. The video distribution system shall accept 24 external independent RS-170 or NTSC video sources from a variety of sources including VCR's and high-resolution cameras. Each channel of the video distribution system shall be a minimum of 10 MHz. The video distribution system shall annotate 6 of the video sources prior to distribution. The annotation overlay shall be capable of at least 640 x 480 graphics and/ or text with a minimum of 16 shades of gray. Definition of the annotation overlay shall be accomplished via a serial or Ethernet communications link to a host PC. The video distribution system shall consist of 20 viewing stations. Each viewing station shall consist of a 9 inch GFE monitor and a small video distribution control panel. The control panel shall provide the operator with a mechanism to select any one of the available source videos for display. The control panel shall indicate to the operator which channel is being viewed. Video distortion, noise and degradation shall be kept to a minimum through the system. The video distribution system shall not require routine maintenance. Each subassembly of the video distribution system shall be interchangeable with like subassemblies of the system to reduce spares.
