Description

THE WORK OF THIS PROJECT CONSISTS OF THE DEMOLITION AND REMOVAL OF THE INDIA POINT RAILROAD BRIDGE, AND A SUNKEN TUG BOAT LOCATED WITHIN THE BRIDGE FENDER SYSTEM. THE BRIDGE CONSISTS OF A 220-FOOT LONG BY 29-FOOT WIDE STEEL SWING SPAN, A 36-FOOT 4-INCH DIAMETER CENTER PIER THAT SUPPORTS THE SPAN, AND A TIMBER AND TIMBER PILING FENDER SYSTEM THAT MEASURES APPROXIMATELY 324 FEET BY 40 FEET. A SUNKEN TUG BOAT, THE "GASPEY", LOCATED WITHIN THE SOUTHERN END OF THE TIMBER FENDER SYSTEM, IS APPROXIMATELY 93 FEET LONG WITH A BEAM OF APPROXIMATELY 22-FEET. UNDERWATER DIVING MAY BE REQUIRED IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE CONTRACT WORK. THE ESTIMATED COST OF THE WORK IS BETWEEN $$1,000,000.00 AND $5,000,000.00. WORK SHALL BE COMPLETED WITHIN 210 CALENDAR DAYS AFTER RECEIPT OF NOTICE TO PROCEED. PROSPECTIVE BIDDERS, SUBCONTRACTORS, AND PLAN ROOMS ARE REQUIRED TO SELF-REFISTER THEIR FIRM OR OFFICE ON THE INTERNET TO RECEIVE THE SOLICITATION. REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET AT http://www.nae.usace.army.mil/index.html and http://acquisition.army.mil. Neither telephonic, mailed or fax requests will be accepted. Those registering are responsible for the accuracy of the information on the mailing list. Registration must include the firm's physical address, telephone, a valid fax number and a point of contact. Registration should be completed one week prior to the issue date. All notifications of changes to this solicitation shall be made through the Internet only. It is therefore, the contractor's responsibililty to check the Internet addresses listed above daily, for any posted changes to this solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District.
