- Description
- MARKET SURVEY -- REQUEST FOR INFORMATION/SAMPLE MATERIAL. The Navy is issuing this Request for Information /Sources Sought synopsis as part of a market survey. This request is for information and sample material that will not be returned to the contractor. Any sample material provided will be provided at no cost to the Government. The Government is seeking either uncut Laser eye protection material or Laser eye protection material that is cut to fit in either a Bolle X 800 T Tactical or Oakley O-Frame MX goggle. The filter material must meet the ASTM F-1776 (Standard Specification for Eye Protective Devices for Paintball Sports) specification for impact resistance. The filter must comply with ANSI Z87.1 (ballistic): the filter material must withstand the impact of a quarter inch steel ball traveling 150 ft/sec. From ANSI Z136.1 (Laser safety): A minimum OD of 2.3 for 810-860nm is required; a minimum OD of 1.2 for 630-640nm is required. This may be one or two separate filter materials, but minimum visible (400-700nm) light transmission needs to be at least 45%. The Government is seeking the highest possible light transmission. The purpose is for night use. Interested vendors are asked to provide a description of their product and sample material that will not be returned to the contractor not later than 22DEC00. Any sample material provided will be provided at no cost to the Government. The Government is only seeking information and possible sources for future needs, if and when they arise. No solicitation document exists at this time. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED.
