Description
The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ linked above or it may be accessed at http://procurement.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/EPS/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . NASA/GSFC plans to acquire one (1) G102 grism and one (1) G141 grism for the infrared filter wheel of hubble space telescope wide field camera 3 instrument. Included with this solicitation is the specification for this purchase. This specification establishes the detailed requirements for the fabrication and testing of the optical grism (Transmission Diffraction Grating) for the infrared channel within the Hubble Space Telescope Wide Field Camera-3. The grisms will be operated at a temperature of -- 30 0C and are 25.4 mm in diameter. There are two types of grisms: a G102 with a passband between 0.9 and 1.17 microns (resolution 200) and G141 with a passband between 1.15 and 1.7 microns (resolution 143). The grisms will be part of the 16 spectral (14 filters and 2 grisms) elements in the infrared 18 slot filter wheel. Deliverable items at the end of the contract include: Two flight candidate grism for each grism type, at least 2 coating witness samples, all relevant test data in electronic form (ASCII, MS-Excel, network link to HTML or FTP data) Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is acceptable) no later than December 18, 2000. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any). An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B".
