- NASA/KSC is soliciting information for potential sources for Life Sciences Support at the Kennedy Space Center. The effort will consist of non-personal technical services supporting life sciences activities at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC), FL, in the following functional areas: Project Management Support; Biomedical and Biological Support to Flight Operations for Launch, Landing, and Processing of Flight Experiments; Obtain, Conduct, and Deliver peer reviewed research in the KSC assigned Life Sciences Research and Development Efforts; Program Support in the Operation and Maintenance of Facilities and Laboratories; Educational Outreach; and Agency Occupational Health Support. The following disciplines are representative of those required: Microbiology (clinical and biological), Plant Physiology, Systems Ecology, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry, Animal Husbandry, Cartography / Geographic Information Systems, Aerospace Medicine, Medical / Laboratory Technology, Biostatistics, General Biology, Pathology, Veterinary Science, and Related Engineering. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in the CBD and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these cites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Responses must include the following: name and address of firm, size of business; average annual revenue for past 3 years and number of employees; ownership; whether they are large, small, small disadvantaged, 8(a), HUBZone, Veteran-owned, and/or woman-owned; number of years in business; list relevant work performed the last three years providing contract numbers, contract type, dollar value of each, and point of contact -- address and phone number. Please advise if the requirement is considered to be a commercial or commercial-type product. A commercial item is defined in Internet "Note A". The Government reserves the right to consider a small business or 8(a) set-aside based on responses hereto and information gained during one-on-one discussions. This procurement is anticipated to be a competitive set-aside for small business firms in NAICS code 541710, with a size standard of 1,000 employees. We anticipate the basic period of performance will be five years, begining January 1, 2002, with one or two additional option periods. This requirement is subject the Service Contract Act of 1965, with the primary places of performance at Kennedy Space Center, FL, and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, FL. NASA / KSC plans to provide an opportunity for one-on-one (See FAR 15.201(c)) discussions with prospective prime contractors on or about January 16, 2001.
