Description

The synopsis published 25 September 2000 is amended to add Option Bid Item C. The new description of work is for placement of approximately 1.3 million cubic yards of sand on 4.2 miles of beach on Hutchinson Island in Martin County. The project will contain a Base Bid and three optional Bid Items. The Base Bid work is 1.6 miles long and requires approximately 562,000 cubic yards. Optional Bid Item A work is approximately 0.33 miles long south of the base bid, and Optional Bid Item B work consists of the construction of a 600-foot dune south of the Optional Item A Segment. Optional Bid Item C, which is 2.1 miles long and north of the Base Bid Area requires approximately 588,000 cubic yards. The beach of the Base Bid Item, optional Bid Item A, and Optional Bid Item C are to be constructed to have a berm width of 90 feet at Elevation 9.1 Mean Low Water (MLW) and a protective dune at Elevation 13.6 MLW. The foreshore slope will be constructed to have a 1 vertical to 10 horizontal slope. The dune required by Optional Bid Item B shall be constructed from Elevation 5.1 MLW to the top of the existing dune at a slope of 1 vertical to 4 horizontal. The date set for bid opening will now be on or about 19 December 2000.
