Description

The work consists of the construction of an access bridge, haul roads, and staging areas for the project. The concrete cutoff wall in the main dam embankment will be approximately 2,160 feet in length, a minimum of 2 feet in thickness and will be at depths ranging to 115 feet. To construct a suitable working platform, the top 10 feet of the dam may be removed. Concrete guide walls will be constructed to allow trench excavation with a bentonite slurry replacing the excavated material. Concrete will be placed via tremie as the slurry is drawn off. The excavated material will be transported to the disposal area, graded, compacted, and topsoiled and seeded. Once the cutoff wall is completed, the top of the dam will be reconstructed using new and excavated material. Temporary access, haul roads, and staging areas will be restored to original condition. The estimated cost of the work is between $10,000,000.00 and $25,000,000.00. Work shall be completed within 720 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. Solicitation documents shall be available on the Web at http://acquisition.army.mil and/or http://www.nae.usace.army.mil. Prospective bidders, subcontractors,and plan rooms are required to self-register their firm or office through the Internet. Registration instructions are available at either of the two internet sites listed above. Neither telephonic, mailed or fax requests will be accepted. Those registering are responsible for the accuracy of the information. Registration must include the firm's physical address, telephone, a valid fax number and a point of contact. Registration should be completed one week prior to the issue date. All notifications of changes to this solicitation shall be made through the Internet only. It is therefore, the contractor's responsibility to check the Internet addresses listed above daily, for any posted changes to the solicitation. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be considered by the New England District.
