Description
The Water Authority of Jordan (WAJ of the Ministry of Water and Irrigation is soliciting expression of interest and submission of prequalification data from U.S. construction contractors or joint venture of U.S. firms who can qualify, through experience with projects of similar magnitude. As a result of this exercise, the prequalified u.s. contractors will be invited to bid on the construction of the Aqaba wastewater system. project description: the work under this project includes but not limited to the following: construction of a new, secondary, extended aeration treatment plant with a design capacity of 24,000 meter cube/day, equipped initially for 18,000 meter cube/day; reconstruction of the existing facultative/maturation ponds to provide disinfection of the secondary effluent and modification of the existing building and related work; construction of a new reclaimed water pumping station, transmission mains and open reservoir; rehabilitation of the main pumping station, modification of another pumping station, and instrumentation of these and other three small sewerage pumping stations; construction of two relief trunk sewers, 1,000 meters each of 600 mm dn and 900 mm dn; construction of wastewater collection systems of 18,800 meters of 200 mm dn and 300 mm dn. startup and training of WAJ staff at the new wastewater treatment plant and supervision of its operation for one year after acceptance of the work. The anticipated contract value ranges from U.S.$28.00 million to U.S.$38.00 million. This project is partially funded by the water authority of Jordan (15%), and partially through a grand received from the United States agency for international development (85%).
