Description

DESC: The U.S. Army Test and Measurement Equipment Agency (USATA), U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Redstone Arsenal, AL, requests potential sources to dismount the existing refurbished expandable bodies on the Volvo White Road Commander 2 trucks and mount the bodies on lowboy trailers. One prototype trailer with mounted expandable body will be built. After acceptance up to 16 production units will be built. This requirement requires removing the expandable body from the volvo truck and installing the expandable body on a custom built low cost trailer made to accept the expandable body. Trailer chassis has to be built to accept expandable body. the chassis shall be 37 feet long. Mount two (2) 20,000 lb. capacity axels to match existing tire wheel wells in the expandable body. Total height of beams with wheels mounted shall be less than 32 inches to the top of the beams in the lower position. Mount eight (8) 215/75/17.5 low profile radial tires mounted on steel wheels. One (1) wheel and tire shall also be supplied as a spare. The chassis shall have air ride suspension, 40,000 lb. with automatic and manual controls for raising and lowering. Air hydraulic landing gears shall be installed on the front of the trailer for leveling. Air brakes shall be installed using 2 1/4" x 7 1/2" 2 (two) SIM ABS controls. Trailer shall have D.O.T. approved lighting system installed. A two (2) inch standard king pin shall be installed. The finished chassis shall be complete with all components required to hook up and operate with standard commercial tractor or military M1088 tractor. Prime and paint trailer with high gloss epoxy paint. Trailer will be painted blue.
