- Description
- The Department of Defense, Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technology Division is requesting information for portable x-ray generators. Descriptive literature to include product data sheets, product quality, reliability, warranty, points of contacts, and pricing information for commercial and nondevelopmental portable x-ray generators is requested. Desired system parameters include: (1) Weigh less than or equal to 20 lbs. with battery installed. (2) Must be compatible with Advanced Radiographic System (SAIC RTR4) and Polaroid x-ray film systems (TPX, Type 803). (3) X-ray a variety of specimens using Advanced Radiographic System (SAIC RTR4) and Polaroid film system (TPX, Type 803): objects behind1 inch of steel, brass up to 1/2 inch, thin packages, envelopes, cardboard boxes, plywood up to 1-1/2 inches. (4) Powered by a easily obtained commercial battery power source (5) AC power capability desired, but not required (6) Must have key on/off switch (7) X-ray source size 3 mm or less. (8) No detectable radiation level (0 mrem) 15 feet behind the unit. The information collected from this market research effort will be utilized to understand commercial and nondevelopmental items' ability to meet the EOD needs. Desired parameters do not necessarily represent minimum acceptable capabilities. This announcement is NOT a formal solicitation and is NOT a request for proposal. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes ONLY and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. Firms responding should indicate whether they are a small business (S), a small disadvantage business (SDB), a small woman-owned business (WO), or large business (L). Each response must reference the sources sought title. Information submitted should describe the contractor's capability and/or past experience in performing the described services and will be used to develop a source of potential proposers for possible future solicitations.
