Description
The Social Security Administration (SSA) intends to negotiate with, and award a contract to, the Medical and Health Research Association of New York City (MHRA); 40 Worth Street; Suite 720; New York, New York, 10013; for the acquisition of New York City_s (NYC) computerized death records. As required by Section 205(r) of the Social Security Act, the Commissioner of SSA is directed to seek voluntary cooperation of all of the states and several jurisdictions in providing death record information to SSA. SSA obtains these records in order to match death information against SSA's payment files and reduce erroneous benefit payments. For the city of New York, the data required to satisfy the statutory authority are available only from MHRA, which furnishes vital statistics death record data for all individuals who have died within NYC. Any responsible source that believes it can provide the required services should submit a Technical Proposal describing its capabilities and resources to the Contracting Officer at the address listed above NO LATER THAN 13 December 2000. This notice is for information purposes only and is NOT a request for proposals. See Note 22.
