Description
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) is preparing to solicit offers for interruptible gas service to be supplied to the proposed Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) and Federal Prison Camp (FPC) to be located adjacent to the existing Federal Correctional Institution, Yazoo City, Mississippi. The newly constructed facilities will include a medium-security FCI and minimum-security FPC capable of providing housing to accommodae approximately 1,500 inmates, and will include additional warehouse space and other generic institutional elements. Natural gas service shall be available for testing, with a connection date by January 1, 2003. Permanent natural gas service is required for use by July 1, 2003. The Contractor agrees to sell and deliver to the FCI and FPC pipeline quality natural gas at a rate of flow to serve an estimated connected load of 44,000 cubic feet (cf)/hour (hr) of interruptible natural gas serivce, and may include some firm natural gas service. Firm service shall be available for equipment pilot lights, laundry and food service equipment. The Contractor shall operate and maintain facilities necessary to provide the FCI and FPC with an estimated total volume of 39,396 Mcf of natural gas. The estimates provided are for the contractor's benefit and are not a guarantee of revenue of usage. It is anticipated that the design of the BOP facilities shall require the Contractor to deliver the required natural gas service at 5 psi to the facilities through gas regulator(s) and main gas meter(s). The Contractor shall install gas calibration meter(s) of a type to record the total quantity of all firm natural gas consumed by the FCI and FPC. Contractors capable of providing natural gas services to the FCI and FPC should request in writing the Solicitation (RFP X00-0429) to Bureau of Prisons, Construction Contracting Section, 320 First Street, N.W., Room 5006, Washington, D.C. 20534. Anticipated issuance date is o/a January 4, 2001.
