Description
The US Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, intends to award a contract for a Swing Bridge Center Pivot Bearing Replacement at the Navigation Lock of the Bonneville Dam near Cascade Locks, Oregon on the Columbia River. This contract requires the installation of a three-ton Government-furnished replacement center pivot bearing for the swing bridge located at the Bonneville Project. The work includes jacking-up the 4.1 million pound concrete swing bridge to remove the existing pivot bearing and reinstalling a replacement bearing. In addition, the Contractor will be required to remove five of the existing balance wheel assemblies and reinstall five new Government-furnished balance wheel assemblies in their place. The Contractor will also be required to install new Government-furnished track overlays and perform the work necessary to rebalance the swing bridge by installing or removing ballast. The Contractor must furnish the four 600-ton hydraulic jacks necessary to lift the bridge and all other appurtenances required for the successful completion of this work. All work must be performed during the annual lock outage period occurring between 03 March and 17 March 2001 and will require multiple work shifts during the duration of the lock outage period. Because of the difficult nature and criticality of this work, the Government will place particular emphasis on past performance, including work history related to lifting loads of similar magnitude and complexity, adherence to schedules, and the technical capability of the company. Technical point of contact is Ron Wridge at (503) 808-4927. Administrative point of contact is Kathy Seitz, at (503) 808-4628. Estimated cost range is between $100,000 to $250,000. IFB will be issued on CDROM on or about 22 December 2000. To request a copy of the IFB register on line @ www.nwp.usace.army.mil/ct. Tentative bid opening date is 25 January 2001. This procurement is open to both large and small business concerns, the size standard for which is a concern, including all affiliates, having average annual sales or receipts for the past three years not in excess of $27,500,000. *** NAICS 234990 ***
