Description

The Navy, on behalf of the US Marine Corps is issuing this Request for Information (RFI)/Sources Sought synopsis. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane is in need of low velocity 40mm CS Cartridge for evaluation. The cartridge shall function in the M203 and M79 Grenade Launcher. The cartridge shall be manufactured with the primers flush or below flush in reference to the cartridge case head. Based on the results of this survey a small number of Cartridges will be procured for testing. The procured Cartridges will be subjected to 28 Day T&H and Vibration testing prior to testing for accuracy at 50 yards, and functioning. Function testing shall assure that the cartridge functions reliably in the above weapons at various temperature conditions, that gases are emitted only after impact, and that the projectile has a minimum gas emission of 10 seconds. At present we are requesting information regarding available products and there capabilities. An MSDS and/or specification sheet shall accompany the cartridges to include all explosive/pyrotechnic components used in the cartridge, including propellant, primer, pyrotechnic delay, and CS composition. The chemical composition / percentages and physical characteristics of each explosive/pyrotechnic component shall be included. Navy qualified propellants will be given a more favorable rating in the evaluation. Interested vendors should provide information regarding this announcement to Mr. Paul R. In addition it is requested that interested parties submit estimated cost and delivery schedules for 40 1st article test units and 440 initial purchase units to Mr. Johnson. This notice does not constitute an invitation for Bids or a request for Proposal (RFP) and it is not a commitment by the Navy to procure subject equipment. The government is only seeking possible sources for future needs, if they arise. No solicitation document exists at this time. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT INTEND TO AWARD A CONTRACT ON THE BASIS OF THIS REQUEST FOR INFORMATION OR OTHERWISE PAY FOR THE INFORMATION SOLICITED.
