- Description
- The U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center is seeking capability statements from contractors capable of performing the statement of work that follows. Capability statements must be sent to Mr. O. Breslouer at Department of the Army, Commander, Attn: CSTE DTC AT TC -- I, 400 Colleran Rd., Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. 21005 -- 5059. Questions regarding this requirement may be referred to Mr. Breslouer at 410-278-8897. The contractor will be required to provide all of the labor, materials and components necessary to engineer, design and install an Overhead Threat Delivery system to support the Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) test mission. The Overhead Threat Delivery must meet the guidelines and specifications outlined below: 1. The Overhead system shall be 200 feet in length. The system height must be able to be remotely adjusted using a computer and supported software. The elevation shall range from 1 foot to 25 feet off the ground. A true horizontal position at the final desired level must be maintained. The payload shall be guided along the underside section of the system. 2. The system must be structurally sound and be able to withstand crosswinds of 75 MPH. Weather protection is a concern as well. A temperature range of -10 F to 130 F must be planned and designed for. Consideration should also be given to occasional periods of heavy snow and rain. Additionally, the system must be able to support 275 pounds of combine loads. Loads travel at velocities of up to 800 ft/sec. Please note that the load and the system will be subjected to extreme acceleration and forces. 3. System shall be designed and fabricated as a "semi-portable" unit. A user shall be able to unbolt the structure and relocate it within a reasonable amount of time. The concrete base, supporting the structure, is not considered an integral part of the system and therefore should be designed as a stand-alone stationary section. The last section of the system shall be detachable and EASY TO REPLACE. The 15 to 20 feet long section should be able to absorb, to the point of being completely destroyed, the destructive forces impose by the extreme conditions of the test environment.
