Description

The Broadcasting Board of Governors, International Broadcasting Bureau (BBG/IBB), Office of Management, Office of Contracts, Simplified Acquisitions Branch (M/CON/SA), intends to solicit, negotiate and award a Purchase Order (contract) on a non-competitive basis and subject to the availability of funds, to Motorola, Communications Government Industrial Solutions Sector, to procure communications equipment as follows: Item 1) 2-Way Radio, MCS2000 High Spec Mobile Radio -- VHF, Motorola Model Number M01HX; Quantity: 21 each; Item 2) VHF 1-25W, Model II, Motorola Model Number 523W; Quantity: 21 each; Item 3) Conventional Systems Option, Motorola Model Number H35; Quantity: 21 each; Item 4) Quick Call II, Motorola Model Number H169; Quantity: 21 each; Item 5) Add: Antenna 1/4 Wave Roof Top 150.8-162 MHZ, Motorola Model Number B776; Quantity: 21 each. The purchase order award will be made using Simplified Acquisitions Procedures (FAR Part 13). Motorola is the manufacturer of this high tech equipment and it is not available from any other source. The statutory authority permitting other than full and open competition that is applicable to this procurement is FAR Subpart 6.302-1(a)(2), 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1), which states: AWhen the supplies and services required by the agency are available from only one responsible source, and no other type of supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements, full and open competition need not be provided for.@ This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive price quotations. Interested firms or persons may however, identify their interest and capability to provide the above-stated communications equipment. In doing so however, all such price quotations for consideration must be received by the Government by 12 Noon EST, Wednesday, December 20, 2000 to be considered. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed Purchase Order (contract) based upon responses to this CBD Notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Any information received from interested firms/persons responding to this CBD Notice will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any questions or requests for additional information regarding this CBD Notice shall be in writing and submitted to the Purchasing Agent, Ms. Sheila Thurston, via facsimile at (202) 205-1921. The CBD Notice is not a RFP, IFB, or RFQ.
