Description
The purpose of this Sources Sought from the Naval Air Warfare Center (Aircraft Division) Patuxent River, MD in partnership with the U.S. Air Force Human Systems Program Office, Brooks Air Force Base, TX is to seek information from potential sources regarding industry technologies applicable to improving Aircrew Single Place Life Raft performance and maintainability for helicopter and fixed-winged aircraft. The goal of this joint USN/USMC and USAF effort is to produce one state-of-the-art technology, single-place life raft to replace and standardize all the current single-place life rafts in the USN/USMC and USAF communities. Currently the USN/USMC USAF utilize seven (7) different single-place life rafts designed to accommodate one aircrew member forced down at sea. The Joint Single Place Life Raft Team seeks to reduce inspection and maintenance cycles, and logistical support requirements as well. The Joint Single Place Life Raft Team will hold an industry day at Patuxent River, MD on, or about, Thursday, 17 January 2001 for all interested manufacturers of survival life rafts and related equipment. The focus of the industry day will be to discuss the new joint service's draft performance specification and known deficiencies in the current raft inventory. Based on the results of this meeting, a Request For Proposal (RFP) may be forth coming in the Commerce Business Daily (CBD). Responses for attendance are needed as early as possible to arrange security passes and meeting rooms. Responses must be received no later than by COB 04 January 2001. Interested companies should respond to this announcement with their attendee's names, nationalities and social security numbers. Visit requests from domestic companies need to be sent to the POC below. Visit requests from foreign companies need to be routed through their respective embassies. This does not, in any way constitute an Request For Proposal (RFP) and as such, is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this notice, nor otherwise pay for information / items solicited.
