Description
This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis. The Air Force would like to replace the existing Azimuth and Elevation Motors with more reliable, longer life motors with a ten-year warranty, under the Falcon Flex Program. We are looking for a motor that would offer "best value" to the government, not necessarily lowest procurement cost. These motors would be Form, Fit, Function and Interface replacements for the existing motors. The following information is provided to assist the Air Force in conducting a market survey of industry to identify potential contractors who have the skills, experience, and knowledge required to successfully complete this effort for Hill AFB, Utah. This is not a Request for Proposal or Invitation for Bid. We are seeking contractors who are interested in designing and manufacturing high reliability motors using modern technology rather than traditional build to print requirements. The F-16 Logistics Operations Division, Radar Section has a requirement for as many as 3,000 Azimuth Motors and 3,000 Elevation Motors. These new motors will replace the current Azimuth Motors (NSN 6105-01-154-8955, P/N 585R911G01; and NSN 6105-01-082-7762, P/N 584R024G01) and Elevation Motors (NSN 6105-01-154-8956, P/N 585R912G01; and NSN 6105-01-084-6836, P/N 584R023G01). The antenna motors are part of the Array Gimbal Assembly, which is a subassembly of the Antenna Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) of the F- 16 AN/APG-68 and AN/APG-66 radar systems. The two Azimuth DC Motors and two Elevation DC Motors (two per axis) use metal tape speed reduction drives and paired gimbal bearings to provide the gimbal motion for the antenna. If possible, it is desirable to procure an Azimuth Motor and an Elevation Motor that would function and perform in both the APG-68 and APG- 66 radar systems. A top-level drawing set describing the Azimuth Motor and Elevation Motor functions and current designs are available. Interested parties are requested to submit two copies of a summary of the capabilities and facilities they have which will allow them to perform the development and manufacture of the new motors. Rough order of magnitude (ROM) cost estimates are also solicited as an aid in the budgeting process. The government does not intend to contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited. Written responses must be submitted by 17 January 2001 to OO-ALC/LGKE, ATTN: Cheryl Dumas, 6072 Fir Ave, Hill AFB UT 84056-5820. No telephone or fax requests will be accepted. No telephone requests. Only written or faxed requests received directly from the requestor are acceptable.
