Description

Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with Texas A&M University Research Foundation (Texas A&M) for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Purpose of contract is to investigate lymphoid organs collected from dolphins killed in tuna purse seine fishery. Research to be completed under proposed contract is mandated by Marine Mammal Protection Act and the Internatl. Dolphin Conservation Protection Act (ODCPA). Dr. Romano of the Texas A&M has specialized in immunology for over a decade and include numerous species. Dr. Romano has also developed species specific antibodies to assess immune competence in cetaceans.
