Description
The Bureau of Reclamation is seeking potential sources for a fish toxicologist to initiate controlled laboratory and field projects studying the impact of perchlorate on fish reproductive endocrinology and physiology at Lake Mead during the months of January and February, 2001. Potential sources must possess the following expertise,and be capable of furnishing the following: The incumbent shall have a Ph.D. in Zoology, with training and experience in environmental or aquatic toxicology, and 3+ years of experience in performing laboratory and field studies on fish reproductive endocrinology and physiology; Familiarity with environmental issues related to Lake Mead, Nevada ; Have experience in fish culture, fish caging studies, and have directed or coordinated large-scale field studies involving groups of collaborators; Train technicians and oversee the collection and analysis of fish blood plasma and tissues; Certified by the Department of Interior as a motorboat operator ; Certified in open water scuba diving by a international organization such as PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) and NAUI (National Association of Underwater Instructors) Provide proof of academic/research credentials and certifications. Incumbent shall be located near the project sites at Lake Mead, NV and Willow Beach Fish Hatchery, NV for the period of performance. Interested sources that possess the above characteristics and can perform the above specification requirements are encouraged to submit substantiation to the Bureau of Reclamation,either by mail, fax, or transmittal to the e-mail address listed below no later than 12/21/00. Responses should include material in sufficient detail to demonstrate the respondent's ability to meet the requirements stated above, and should include the firm's Dun and Bradstreet number (DUNS) and Tax Identification Number (TIN). This is a Sources Sought Notice only, and not a Request for Quotation or an announcement of a solicitation. The Government will not pay for any materials furnished in response to this synopsis. Submittals furnished will not be returned to the sender. Firms should identify themselves as either small business, or other than small business, in accordance with the size standard for Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code 8731 which is 500 employees or less. This notice is for market research purposes only, however, the information gathered from this notice will be used to determine which preference program will be used to process the acquisition (e.g., 8(a) set-aside under the Small Business Administration's 8(a) program, total small business set-aside, full and open competition). No preference program determination will be made until the market research has been completed.
