Description

SYNOPSIS: The work for this project includes the repair of two skeletal steel navigational range towers near Jacksonville Florida. The rear tower is approximately 95 ft tall and the front tower is approximately 70 ft tall. A copy of a charlet will be attached to the specifications to show the exact locations. The rear range is on land but is only accessible by a 4WD type of vehicle on a single vehicle width path. The front range is located in the water, approximately 150 feet from land. The depth around the structure is approximately 4 feet. The majority of the work on both towers includes replacing a majority (approx. 600) of the steel bolts in both towers. The project also includes the replacement of most of the 1_ steel tension rods (75) on both towers. The tubular handrails at the top of both towers shall be replaced and the dayboard bracket on the rear range shall be replaced. An aluminum access ladder shall be added to the front range as well. The estimated price range is between $25,000 and $100,000. The performance period is 30 calendar days from notice to proceed date. Award will be made to the lowest responsible offeror. The anticipated award date is January 30, 2001. This solicitation is being issued pursuant to the Small Business Competitive Demonstration Program and is open to large and small business participation.
