- Description
- Direct all questions and responses to Doris L. Britton at (216) 433-5246 or email Doris.L.Britton@grc.nasa.gov. Do NOT respond to the Contracting Officer shown below. NASA Glenn Research Center is hereby soliciting concepts or ideas for advanced battery systems incorporating new nano-scale materials or self-assembly and/or fabrication processes. These technologies should offer unique properties and performance characteristics applicable to demanding applications that conventional battery technologies cannot serve. High energy density and specific energy are highly desirable. Battery cell components of interest include positive and/or negative electrodes incorporating nano-scale compounds with high operating potential. Interested Offerors having the capabilities to perform research and development activities in the areas suggested above are invited to submit brief "white papers" presenting ideas, concepts, techniques, analyses, etc., relevant to this general idea of research. Offerors should have viable concepts to discuss, and they should possess the capabilities to demonstrate the technical feasibility of such concepts at a small cell level within a one-year timeframe. Participation is open to all categories of organizations; educational institutions, private industry, NASA centers, other U.S. Government agencies and other nonprofit organizations. It is anticipated that discussions due to these pertinent concepts and ideas will convey approaches of mutual interest. Questions and discussions should be directed to Doris L. Britton at (216) 433-5246 or email Doris.L.Britton@grc.nasa.gov. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in the CBD and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these cites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated requirements may submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, and references. However, they are strongly encouraged to discuss their research concept with the individual shown at the top of this announcement. Please advise if the requirement is considered to be a commercial or commercial-type product. A commercial item is defined in Internet "Note A". [INTERNET ONLY (commercial product definition)] This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement.
