Description
The Department of Labor, Pension and Welfare Benefits Administration intends to enter into a sole source contract with the Employee Benefits Research Institute, American Savings Education Council(EBRI/ASEC)for the purpose of coordinating logistical arrangements and other activities related to the 2001 National Summit on Retirement Savings. The proposed contractor will handle logistical, catering, and other support needs for the National Summit on a cost sharing basis and the contractor will provide funding for all expenses related to food, drink, entertainment, and any other expenses for which appropriated funds are restricted. The Summit is a bipartisan effort to bring retirement savings issues to the awareness of the public. The "Savings Are Vital to Everyone's Retirement Act of 1997" (SAVER Act) gave the President of the United States the authority to convene three National Summits on Retirement Income Savings to be co-hosted by the President and the leadership of both parties from both Houses of Congress. The first National Summit took place on June 3 and 4, 1998. The next National Summit will take place in the fall of 2001 in Washington, D.C. This notice is for informational purposes only.
