- Description
- Fixed Aircrew Seat Standardization (FASS) team at 311th Human = Systems Program Office (SPO), Brooks AFB, TX is currently seeking = Industry's input to determine which vendors have the capability to = model a fixed aircrew seat and simulate a 16G airplane crash. =20 This Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) is being pursued concurrently with = the FASS SSS. The FASS SSS is to find interested manufacturers in = creating a standardized fixed seat across multiple USAF cargo aircraft = platforms. The potential FASS seat designers will have to do upfront = design drawing work. The relationship between the two efforts is that = those drawings will then be utilized as input data for the modeling and = simulation effort. A Request For Proposal (RFP) has not been released = for either effort. Any vendor who wishes to submit a proposal on this modeling and = simulation SSS cannot aid or team with any seat manufacturers who are = planning to submit a proposal on future FASS efforts. The reason for = this is that the simulated crash results may be used in the down select = criteria of the potential prototype FASS contract.=20 The aircraft to be included in the simulation are the C-5, C-135, = C-130, C-141, E-3 and KC-10. The simulation load testing should mimic = dynamic tests, should result in data on occupant kinematics, seat = dynamics, structural failure wherever possible, and adhere to SAE AS = 8049 Figure 6 using a 250-LB occupant. =20 This announcement is not a formal solicitation and is not a request for = proposal. Your responses should focus upon: the experience and = capabilities of your firm to perform the task outlined above, the type = of raw data you need to do an adequate simulation, the confidence = factor of the simulation, the cost of running X simulations and the = time frame to complete X simulations. (As a guide X=3D176) =20 All responses should be sent by e-mail to michael.forbis@brooks.af.mil = and please cc germaine.miller@brooks.af.mil. Points of contacts are = Michael Forbis, Contracting Officer and Germaine Miller, Contract = Specialist, 311 HSW/YACL, 7909 Lindbergh Dr., Brooks AFB, TX 78235, = (210) 536-6390, (210) 536-2068. A FASS Industry Day will be held on = December 12th to discuss other issues. This notice is for information and planning purposes only and is not to = be considered as a commitment by the Government.
