- Description
- The Government intends to procure, under full and open competition, a prototype 30mm weapon system suitable for integration onto the CH-60 helicopter. The government requirement is for a minimum of 1/ea weapon system with a maximum of 5/ea weapon systems that may be ordered over the two-year life of the contemplated contract. The required delivery for the minimum quantity of 1/ea will be 240 days after the effective date of the contract. Any subsequent delivery orders will require deliveries commencing 180 days after the effective date of the delivery order. The prototype weapon system shall minimally consist of an electrically driven, lightweight mount, 30mm weapon, and a control console suitable for pointing and firing the weapon. The prototype system design should allow for future upgrade capability to include incorporation of fiber optic gyro-stabilization, remote sensors, and advanced control consoles/displays. Physical dimensions of the gun mount shall not exceed 48" in height and 39" in base diameter. The gun mount shall accommodate a minimum elevation arc of 45 degrees to + 5 degrees and a minimum slew arc of 180 degrees. Total system weight, excluding ammunition handling system, containers, and ammunition shall not exceed 700 lb. (The Government will be developing the ammunition handling hardware for any weapon system selected under this procurement.) The gun mount shall incorporate adjustable positive stops in both elevation and azimuth. The weapon shall be a DOD qualified, electrically driven 30mm link fed cannon and shall have a firing rate of 200spm +/- 20spm. It shall be capable of firing DOD qualified standard 30mm x 173mm APFSDS-T, HEI-T, and TP-T ammunition. Recoil of the weapon shall be no greater than 4,000 lb. (threshold) with an objective of 3000 lb. Weapon system dispersion shall be no greater than 0.8 milliradians (threshold) with an objective of 0.6 milliradians (1 sigma radial dispersion) when firing standard 30mm x 173mm APFSD-T ammunition. For informational purposes in the summation of pointing accuracy, the APFSDS-T ammunition dispersion shall be considered as having a maximum dispersion of 0.4 milliradians and shall be the baseline ammunition for determining weapon system dispersion. The weapon system offered must be suitable for testing at various DOD test sites, aircraft, and in a naval environment. Companies submitting proposals shall provide any test, analytical, and safety (Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Safety Plans, etc.) data available that provides an analysis and/or verification of the inherent accuracy capabilities and operational safety/suitability of the weapon system. The Government would be interested in reviewing electronic media/video that illustrates system capabilities. The prototype weapon system designs should be in accordance with general industry and military standards for weapon systems. Military Standards may be found on the Acquisition Streamlining and Standardization Information System web page (http://astimage.daps.dla.mil). It is contemplated that the contract will be issued on a FOB Destination basis. The delivery point is NAVSEA Crane, Crane Indiana. The options will cover the Government's requirements for two years from the date of contract award. All responsible sources with existing weapon system technologies may submit a proposal that shall be considered by the agency. Government POC is Mr. John Pfender (812) 854-5198.
