Description

NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Space Integrated INS/GPS Units. JSC intends to purchase two units. Both will be configured as Crew Return Vehicle (CRV) systems, must include the latest CRV SIGI firmware, and include complete data acceptance packges. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Honeywell Space Systems in Clearwater Florida. This purchase is being made as a modification to an existing contract for SIGI units to be used on the Space Shuttle, the Space Station, and the CRV. The units purchased must be compatible with existing units already in the inventory and therefore are being purchased from Honeywell. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. See Note 22. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on January 5, 2001. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Firm date for receipt of offers will be stated in the RFP. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
