Description
Construction of two new security alarm station facilities (approximately 3400 SF each) at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, NM. They will be constructed as extensions to existing facilities (and renovation to existing). Special requirements: Work will be performed in a nuclear facility with specific security requirements (i.e., escorts, U.S. citizenship requirement, no personal vehicles allowed in facility parking lot, etc.). Work includes Civil: earthwork, utilities, and concrete and asphalt paving. Structural: concrete footings, concrete and masonry walls, slab on grade, open web steel joists, and concrete on metal deck roof, selective interconnection of walls, corridors, and roofs. General construction: exterior stucco, metal stud with gypsum board interior walls, raised flooring, acoustical suspended ceilings, bullet-proof exterior doors, fireproof interior doors, painting, carpet, and tile. Mechanical: consistent volume air handling system with chemical agent filtration equipment, and air cooled condensers, standby diesel engine generator, diesel oil storage tank, and diesel oil piping, sprinkler system piping, roof and floor drain systems. Electrical: lighting, power circuits/outlets, panelboards, uninterruptible power supply, automatic transfer switch, underfloor cable trays, transformers, paging, fire alarm, and telecommunication raceways, exterior power and communication manholes and ductbanks. Estimated cost is $5,000,000 to $7,000,000. Award date is on or before March 31, 2001. Notice to proceed anticipated May 2001. Beneficial occupancy April 2002. Bid documents contain Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI). All bid documents containing UCNI must be controlled and accounted for. The company representative requesting the bid documents must certify in writing that he or she is a U.S. citizen prior to receipt of the bid documents. Only written requests for bid documents accompanied by a check for $300.00 will be accepted. Make check or money order payable to Chavez-Grieves Consulting Engineers, Inc. Unsuccessful contractors are required to return the bid documents and will receive a $300.00 rebate. Anticipated availability date for the bid documents is approximately January 12, 2001. Prebid conference will be held in Los Alamos, NM, approximately week of January 22, 2000.
