Description

Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate and award a contract for Tactical Tomahawk Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP). The anticipated contract will contain a base year (LRIP-1) and one option year (LRIP-2). Contract award is planned for second quarter fiscal year 2002. This requirement includes the procurement of Tactical Tomahawk missiles and all related equipment and services. Efforts involve hardware manufacturing and testing, Functional Ground Test demonstrations, engineering test support, Tomahawk Weapons System (TWS) engineering support, and weapon system integration program support. NAVAIR intends to award this effort to Raytheon Systems Company (RSC), P.O. Box 11337, Tucson, AZ 85734 1337. Since 1994, RSC has been the sole developer, designer, and manufacturer for the TWS. RSC solely possesses the current configuration and manufacturing data for the Tactical Tomahawk missile, and is the only source capable of meeting scheduled thresholds for Fleet introduction of the Tactical TWS. Because a detailed knowledge and expertise of the Tactical Tomahawk missile is required to conduct tasking under this contract, RSC is the only source capable of accomplishing this requirement in the required timeframe and without duplication of costs.
