Description

The Health Resources and Services Administration intends to negotiate under FAR Part 13 -- SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES on a sole source basis with The American Dietetic Association (ADA), 216 West Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL 60606-6995 to develop a minority student mentoring program the would encourage minority students to complete their nutritional studies and become practitioners. It would also serve as a guide for additional Allied Health programs. As part of this program the ADA will communicate to its member, dietetic educators, students, and the public through the ADA publications (Courier and the Journal of American Dietetic Association) and their Web site. It is expected that any resulting award will be a cost-sharing award, with many of the costs being in-kind contributions from the ADA. Negotiations with the ADA are expected to result in a Purchase Order with a period of performance of 12 months. Because any other source would have to duplicate ADA position in the Field of nutrition and the offer of in-kind contributions, ADA is deemed the only responsible source capable of providing the required work and service under authority in 41 U.S.C.253 (1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(I).
