- Description
- DEPLOYED ENVIRONMENTAL SURVEILLANCE SYSTEM (DESS) The United States Air Force, Force Protection Battlelab at Lackland AFB, TX seeks sources and information, from government, industry and academia, related to capabilities for monitoring environmental exposure of military personnel to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear materials. Specifically, the battlelab is looking for information in the following areas: Unattended ground sensors, wearable sensors, and handheld detectors and identification devices. The battlelab is interested in environmental and medical databases and expert systems capable of being deployed, as well as, having a reachback capability to expert consultative databases in the continental U.S. Additionally, the DESS will be used to detect toxic industrial chemicals (TICs) and toxic industrial materials (TIMs) at remote, austere locations in toxic wartime and peacetime contaminated environments. In order to initiate an exchange of information, the Force Protection Battlelab requests that interested parties submit any or both of the following: (1) an up to 10 page concept paper, with conceptual sketches if applicable, that identifies potential existing solutions.
