- Description
- This Notice supersedes the previous announcement dated December 1, 2000. The proposed contract action is for services, which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source GE Medical Systems Inc., 7272 Park Circle Dr., Hanover, MD 21076, under authortiy of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source. The project involves continual maintenance service and technological upgrades for the LDRR/OIR/CC GE Signa 1.5T Magnetic Resonance System and its accessories. The system is maintained as "state of the art" to support the research needs of the laboratory. As a part of all maintenance and upgrade services provided under the auspices of this requirement, the contractor is responsible for providing orientation and training in the operation and care of any equipment furnished. This training includes actual demonstrations and operation of the equipment including any adjustments or other actions, which must be undertaken by operating personnel that specialize specifically in the maintainability of this software. It is believed that GE Medical is the sole source for this requirement because of the proprietary nature of the technological upgrades and maintenance performance. The period of performance will be the basic 12-month period and (4) 12-month options. This action is under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306-302-1. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 15 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.Note 22
