- Description
- NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) is seeking an industry partner(s) to develop design concepts for two nearly identical satellites for a proposed Magnetic Field Gradient Satellite (GRADSAT) mission in support of the development of a proposal to respond to the NASA Announcement of Opportunity (AO) for the Earth Science System Pathfinder (ESSP) Program. Additional information about ESSP and GRADSAT can be accessed at http://essp.larc.nasa.gov/essp/ and also http://www.iau.dtu.dk/csc/proposal/gradsat/ It is expected that primary selection of the GRADSAT mission under the AO and the availability of funds would result in a contract to build the spacecraft buses, calibrate and integrate the satellite system with the government provided scientific instruments (magnetometers, star imagers and GPS receivers). GSFC plans to select a partner(s) using the following steps: 1) issue the Partnership Opportunity Document, which includes a mission overview of GRADSAT, instrument specifications and instructions about how to respond to this partnership opportunity; 2) schedule oral presentations; 3) receive presentation packages from interested Partnership Opportunity Document respondents; 4) conduct oral presentations, January 16-19, 2001; and 5) evaluate oral and written presentations. All Partnership Opportunity Document respondents who intend to make an oral presentation must provide written or electronic notice by no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, January 5, 2001. Notice shall be by e-mail to William Cutlip at wcutlip@staac-mail.gsfc.nasa.gov or in writing to NASA/Goddard Space Flight Center, Attention: William Cutlip, Code 740.2, Building 12, Room N233, Greenbelt, MD 20771. All Partnership Opportunity Document respondents shall deliver their complete oral presentation packages to William Cutlip at the above address by no later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 12, 2001. Contact Mr. Cutlip at 301-286-0438 if you have any questions or require additional information. This Partnership Opportunity Document does not represent a guarantee of selection for hardware development. GSFC does not currently have a requirement for these instruments or funds to support their development. In responding to this notice please reference "GRADSAT Partnership Opportunity Document". This solicitation/synopsis is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for the information solicited. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See Internet Note "B". The documents for this partnership opportunity will be in Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
