Description

: The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to procure on a sole source basis Preventative Maintenance Services from JEOL USA, Inc., Service Division, 11 Dearborn Road, Peabody, MA 01961. The Contractor shall provide on-site maintenance for equipment located at Gaithersburg, MD. Items to be maintained shall include JEM-3010, Electron Microscope 130008-13, ASID -- High Resolution Scanning Unit, BEI -- Back Scattered Unit, FLC -- Free Lens Control, R175 -- Water Chiller, and SEG -- Side Entry Goniometer. Services required shall include routine service visits, emergency service, repair/replace parts to maintain original specifications, labor, travel, and parts covered. The period of performance is January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001. The Government intends to solicit one source under authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b). JOEL Inc. is the sole manufacturer of this instrument, the ancillary devices and replacements parts and also employs a staff of service engineers who are qualified to service this unique instrument, maintaining it at the original specifications. Interested offerors may identify their capabilities in writing. The capability statement must provide adequate information to demonstrate the ability to perform the required services. This notice is not a Request for Quotation. However, interested parties may identify their capability to satisfy the Government's requirements no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed order based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. A solicitation document is not available. A fixed price purchase order shall be awarded.
