Description

TWO-STEP SEALED BID. The principal features of the work to be performed under these specifications include: Construction compaction grouting test section consisting of drilling grout holes and compaction grouting in three separate test section areas on the downstream berm of the dam. Compaction grouting consists of slowly injecting a stiff, low-slump, mortar-like grout with sufficient silt to provide plasticity together with sufficient sand sizes to develop high internal friction into a soil mass where the grout does not enter the pores of the soil or fractures the soil but remains in an expanding homogeneous mass that gives controlled displacement to compact loose soils. Drilling refers to any approved method in accordance with the specifications used to advance the holes through the embankment and foundation materials. A Site Tour is planned on February 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. Information concerning the Site Tour will be provided in the Pre-Solicitation Notice at a later date, or you may call Barbara Taylor or Ken Kofford at the above listed telephone numbers.
