Description

It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure ProActive DBA software on a sole source basis from White Sands Technology Inc., 20201 Sherman Way, Suite 205, Canoga Park, CA 91306, under the authority U.S.C. 253 (c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1 (b)(1). NCBI has determined that ProActive DBA software, which is available only through White Sands Technology, Inc., is the only software available for Sybase database administration that meets NCBI's requirements. ProActive DBA software provides data modeling, stored procedure programming and debugging, performance monitoring and load testing, as well as space management, capacity planning, maintenance forecasting, automated maintenance and disaster recovery of Sybase database systems. This suite of features are currently not available from any other database product on the market. In order to complete NCBI mission of providing automated information systems for molecular biology and biotechnology, NCBI's senior database managers have concluded that this software with the elements listed above is critical for NCBI to continue to manage its molecular biology, bibliographic, and textual databases. White Sands Technology Inc. is the only source capable of providing the necessary product. This notice of intent is not a Request For competitive Quotations (RFQs), nor is a Request for Quotation available. However, all proposals received within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice will be considered by the National Library of Medicine.
