Description
A MARKET SURVEY is being conducted to determine if there are qualified firms interested in a proposed Cost-Reimbursement Type Contract for the construction of the Olmsted Dam on the Ohio River at river mile 964.4, near Olmsted, Illinois. Construction of the dam includes three major segments: a tainter-gated regulatory dam section composed of concrete segments with five 110-foot wide by 37-foot high tainter gates; a 1400-foot wide navigable pass section with concrete segments and 140 boat-operated wickets; and a fixed weir extending to the Kentucky bank. The three sections and the riverward-most lock will be separated by seismic isolation joints to reduce the risk of damage during an earthquake. Also, right and left boat abutments will be constructed on each side of the navigable pass. Construction of the dam components will be in-the-wet utilizing pre-cast concrete shell units and heavy lift-in techniques for placement of the shells and foundation piling. The dam structures will be completed with placement of tremie and cast-in-place concrete, and erection of the gate structures and miscellaneous appurtenances. The estimate cost range of this project is from $100,000,000. to $300,000,000. with an estimated construction duration of 4 years. NAICS Code is 23499 (SIC Code 1629). All interested concerns should notify this office in writing by mail or fax by 12 February 2001, 4:00 P.M. Louisville time.
