- ANNOUNCEMENT 002 The North American Development Bank, a public international organization, announces its 2001 Solicitation for Grant Applications for the United States Community Adjustment and Investment Program (USCAIP). Approximately $6,000,000 is available on a competitive basis, according to the rules described in the solicitation. USCAIP grants are available for projects located in Designated Eligible Areas (DEA) those places having significant job losses attributable to NAFTA and a need for transition assistance to adjust economically to the job losses. Each county within the United States that has any part located within 62 miles of the United States-Mexico border is also a DEA. For a list of DEAs please visit the USCAIP web site at http://www.nadbank-caip.org. Eligible projects are those designed to create new private-sector jobs, to re-employ dislocated private-sector workers, or to prevent dislocation of private-sector workers. A proposed project can be either for a specific project grant that directly generates or preserves sustainable jobs or for a technical assistance grant that is associated with a strategy to create or preserve sustainable jobs. Any public or private nonprofit organization, public or private institution of higher education, state or local political subdivision or agency, or Indian tribal government may apply for a USCAIP grant. To request a solicitation package, call (210) 231-8000 or visit the USCAIP web site at http://www.nadbank-caip.org where the solicitation documents are posted.
