Description
Trawl vessel with a minimum registered length of 120 ft, and a minimum continuous horsepower from the main engine of 1,200 to conduct surface trawl surveys of salmon ecology in the coastal waters for the Gulf of Alaska and eastern Bering Sea. The charter period will begin on or about July 13, 2001 and continue for 55 days. Options for performance in 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 is included. Vessel must be completely rigged for trawling, and have sufficient fuel and fuel-holding capacity to conduct 4 weeks of charter operations without refueling. Contractor shall provide a 5-person crew, including a Captain, Fisher-cook, Fisher-engineer, and two other fishers. The vessel must also accommodate a crew of at least four scientists, with separate quarters for male and female scientists. The government will install on the vessel an acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP), a flow-through thermosalinograph (TSG), and a GPS-based attitude determination unit (ADU). The government installed equipment will remain on the vessel until all option periods have expired or the government requires their removal. The charter will begin in Seattle, Washington, and end in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. All responsible, responsive offers will be considered.
