Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Severe Storms Lab (NSSL) requires two high power klystron tubes. The tubes should, in all respect except where indicated, be compatible (equivalent) to the Litton L5782-20 tube. The tube must fit into the existing WSR-88D transmitter and be capable to operate in it. The supplier should state if there are modifications to the transmitter that need to be made for the tube to operate properly. In that case the supplier should also provide the cost of parts for the modifications. The following specifications must be met: Beam Current 26 to 32 A; Beam Voltage 65 kV max; Output power 650kW peak min; Center frequency 3200 MHz; Instantaneous band width (width between the points where the power is one half dB below the power at the center of the band) 15 MHz; RF pulse length 6 microseconds max; RF Duty factor 0.002; RF Efficiency 36 per cent min.; Beam duty factor 0.00234; Collector dissipation 6.6 kW max; Focus coil current 25 A dc max; Drive power 7.5 W max (peak); Heater voltage and current 5-7 V (ac) and 20-32 A (ac); VSWR specs apply for 1.2 to 1 able to operate from 1.5 to 1. Interested sources proposing to supply klystron tubes which meet these requirements must submit a written quote and a qualification statement clearly establishing capability to meet the above requirements within 15 days from the date of this synopsis. This solicitation is being issued under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures, FAR Part 13 (NTE $100,000.00). The award decision will be based upon the best value to the Government, with technical merit and past performance being considered as well as price. Terms and conditions and agency level protest procedures are referenced at http://www.doc.gov/oam/conops/#reference . Responses are due by February 12, 2001 either via fax or mail. No RFQ package is available.
