Description

The Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division, Lakehurst, NJ is seeking potential sources and product information for the acquisition of non-aqueous solvent recycling parts washer specifically designed t use Group I volatile organic compound (VOC) exempt solvents, as well as P-D-680 class solvents. The unit shall be designed for the removal of oils, solvents, greases, ethylene glycol, and chlorinated hydrocarbons from weapons and weapon components. The solvent shall not be regulated as an ozone depleter, hazardous air pollutant (HAP), and shall be specifically exempt from VOC regulations. If the Group I VOC-exempt solvent to be utilized has odor issues, the unit shall be designed with a vent to exhaust vapors away from the user. The solvent shall be automatically filtered/purified to preclude the need for draining and replacement, and contaminants removed from the parts should be broken down/dissolved to the greatest extent possible in order to minimize/eliminate the need for emptying sludge from the unit and disposal. The unit should be electrically operated, with no compressed air requirements, and should have a minimum of 35-gallon capacity. The unit should be designed for soaking of the dirty components and should include a brush for hand washing. Respondents to this request for information are invited to submit a statement of general interest, a description of any currently available system that meets our requirements, and a copy of the Material Safety Data Sheet for the VOC-exempt solvent. Any comments provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. This is NOT a solicitation. This is a Request For Information (RFI) only.
