Description
FUTURE FORCE PROJECTION SYMPOSIUM II, APRIL 3-4, 2000, CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA. This Symposium will bring together Government and Industry to discuss issues and concerns relevant to the constant changes and future trends in Force Projection. This forum affords the opportunity for networking and enhancing lines of communication in a non-adversial atmosphere. The symposium will offer formal presentations by government and industry personnel, exhibits, demonstrations, and open discussions. The theme of the Symposium is "Interfacing with Strategic Lift." The Department of Defense has spent $6.2B on strategic sealift, over $20B on strategic airlift, and nearly $1B on infrastructure improvements since 1990. It is unlikely that the DoD will commit to significant further expenditures on these strategic assets in the near term to improve the military's strategic responsiveness. Therefore, it is critical that all the organizations which play a role in the future of force projection focus on improving the interface with strategic lift. This utilization of these existing assets must be optimized. In essence, the theme of this Symposium is "How best can we make our existing strategic assets more efficient and effective?" There will also be the opportunity to witness two demonstrations involving the interface with a strategic lift transporter, an upload/download of a Large Medium Speed Roll-on/Roll-off (LMSR) ship and a C-17 Globemaster aircraft. The Symposium will be held at the Embassy Suites Charleston Convention complex. The registration is $275 prior to 1 March 01, $325 thereafter. To register and/or to become an exhibitor please contact the NDIA, Angela Schofield, 248-336-9310, FPSymposium@mindspring.com. For further symposium information the government contacts are Mr. G.B. Singh, 810-574-5240, or Mr. Don Paskulovich, 810-574-764. The Symposium is sponsored by the Project Manager for Force Projection, United States Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) in partnership with the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA).
