- Description
- The National Science Foundation (NSF) is soliciting proposals for planning, promoting and conducting a series of 10 large conferences on federal Research and Development (R&D) for small high tech companies with up to 500 employees. The conferences are the principal effort of the government to support the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program by disseminating information on federal R&D opportunities for qualified small disadvantaged businesses and small technology-based companies. The conferences aim to increase technological innovation and the commercialization of R&D, and help small high-tech firms that have difficulty attracting investment capital to network with potential partners. The annual conferences include participation of the Small Business Administration and SBIR program managers in 10 federal departments and agencies that fund SBIR and 95 percent of all government-funded R&D. Conferences also include participation of large companies, and experts in technical and business performance for small high tech firms. NSF will request proposals from small business firms with experience in organizing and administering large national and regional conferences, as well as SBIR outreach expertise in the areas of electronic communications and regional support activities. The Contractor shall provide necessary administrative support for conference planning, scheduling, securing inter-agency cooperation, promotion and outreach including electronic communications, printing, electronic and bulk mailing, publicity and other means, as well as material and support services, conference logistics and accommodations. A single award will cover all 10 conferences. NSF anticipates awarding a three-year contract with option for a two-year renewal depending on performance. The solicitation is anticipated to be available on or about Feb. 26, 2001. All potential offerors should download the solicitation from the following web site: http://www.nsf.gov/bfa/cpo/contract/sol.htm. All amendments to the solicitation will also be included at the web site. To receive all other special notices and other communications regarding this solicitation that may or may not be available on the web site and to ensure receipt of the solicitation if it is not available on the web site, organizations should submit requests by e-mail to kspencer@nsf.gov and include where the documents should be sent. Telephone requests will not be honored. This is a total small business set-aside with NAICS code 541611, size standard $5 million in average annual receipts. See Notes 1 and 25.*****
