Description

The Association of Old Crows will sponsor the third "UAV/UCAV Payloads" Conference on February 13-14, 2001, at the Army Research Laboratory, Adelphi, Maryland. The classification of the conference will be SECRET/U.S. Only. The theme of the conference will be "Unmanned Aviation -- Payloads and Payoffs in the 21st Century." The chairman of the conference will be RADM John Chenevey, PEO for Strike Weapons and Unmanned Aviation, USN. The keynote speaker will be RADM Robert Nutwell, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (C3ISR and Space). There will be five sessions. Session I -- "Unmanned Aviation Systems and Future Vision" -- Chairwoman: Ms. Diane Wright, Assistant Deputy Director, Air Warfare, OUSD. Ms Wright will brief the "DoD UAV Master Plan." Other presentations will include the "Army UAV Roadmap" -- COL W. Knarr, TRADOC System Manager for UAVs; "Naval UAVs and the Long Range Plan" -- CAPT R. Lebouvier, OPNAV/N85; "Air Force UAV Programs" -- BGen Trey Obering, USAF, Director of Information Dominance Programs, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Acquisition (SAF/AQI); and "UCAV: Vision and Future" -- Lt Col M. Leahy, USAF, PM UCAV, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Washington, DC. Session II -- "Payloads and Applications" -- Chairman: John Cervini, U.S. Army Communications Electronics Command. The session will include "Army TUAV Payload Strategy" -- LTC Michael Beery, PM TESAR, PEO IEWS, Ft Monmouth; "Air Force UAV Payloads" -- Mr. Ed Hamilton, Air Force Research Lab; "Navy UAV Payloads" -- Mr. In Seon Lim, PMA 263-3; "Tactical Common Data Link Developments" -- Mr. Craig Lucas (invited), I2WD, Ft. Monmouth; "Tactical SIGINT Payload Requirements" -- Mr. Mark O'Neill, PM Signals Warfare and Mr. Michael Gruen, I2WD, Ft. Monmouth. Session III -- "Interoperability and Architectures" -- Chairman: CAPT Mike Williamson, USN, Ground Systems IPT Lead, PEO (W), Strike Weapons and Unmanned Systems. This Session will also include "Tactical Control System (TCS) Architectures" -- Mr. Steve Daniel, PEO (W); "JSTARS/CGS UAV Interoperability" -- COL Steve Bond, TSM JSTARS/CGS; "Joint Forces Command UAV Interoperability/Initiatives" -- LCDR Noel Pitoniak, TCS Coordinator, JFCOM; and "Plug and Play Payloads for UAVs" -- LCDR M. Schachterle, PEO (W). Session IV -- "Mission Employment and Future Concepts" -- Chairman: Lt Col Russell Towe, USAF UAV Battlelab. Lt Col Towe will present "Air Force Battlelab Initiatives." Other presentations include "Marine Corps Warfighting Lab" -- J. McMains, USMC UAV B/L; "The Role for UAVs in Time Sensitive Operations" -- LCDR Jeff Goldfinger, USN, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center; "Predator Operations in Kosovo" -- Capt Dan Callahan, HQ USAF/XOIR; and "Army TUAV/Hunter Programs" -- COL Mike Hamilton, PM TUAV/Hunter, Redstone Arsenal. Session V -- "Advanced UAV Technologies" -- Chairman: John Kinzer, Autonomous Operations PM, Office of Naval Research, Washington, DC. Mr. Kinzer will brief "Autonomous Operations Technologies." Other presentations include "Micro UAV Technologies" -- Mr. Sam Wilson, PM for MAV, DARPA; "Small/Expendable UAV Technologies" -- Mr. Richard Foch, Naval Research Lab; "Army UAV Payload Technologies" -- Dr. Dan Beekman, Army Research Lab. Also, time has been set aside for selected industry presentations that fit with the theme and sessions. This has been a popular AOC conference in the past with interest and participation by both Industry and DoD.
